About BRI.CO.LAGE, a publication of CCAD Liberal Arts
A bricolage is a work of art or text that draws from diverse resources, materials, and sources, using what is available to create. Similarly, BRI.CO.LAGE is a web-based zine which draws from the diverse subject areas, genres, and projects that are part of the Liberal Arts experience at Columbus College of Art & Design.
LIBA instructors were asked to submit student work from academic year 2020-21--a year that students experienced fully online due to the pandemic-- from across disciplines, media, and assignment types, from first year writing to the social sciences to mathematics to literature, to creative writing, to science. Our first issue of BRI.CO.LAGE arranges the nominated text, image, and multimedia pieces thematically rather than by subject area or genre--and displays the talent, imagination, close-reading for nuanced making, and spirit of critical inquiry that persevered in student work though the challenge of our distance and isolation.
